is PEFC certified, through the Forestry Cooperative Group (GCF , union of cooperatives )
For FORÊTS & BOIS DE L'EST, this active involvement demonstrates
its intention:
To remain constantly aware of its
customers’ needs and to continually
follow this aim to the satisfaction of its partners … thereby
showing its capacity for reactivity,
To remain aware of its responsibility and the consequences of its
actions on the environment,
To remain aware of the exemplary image and role that one expects
from a frontline participant in the field of the Privately-owned French
Forest,
To remain determined to permanently improve the quality of its products
and services.
To remain convinced that environment, quality and competitiveness
are intimately linked.
To truly satisfy a very natural double need: upstream, the owners
who demand quality forestry management and downstream, the customers
who need to be reassured.
Is appropriate for all the surface areas of French forestry properties
Gives wide participation to all the actors in the wood sector (Producers
/ Transformers / consumers)
Is certified by an independent organisation
Has already proved itself in other European countries
How was the durable management policy established
for the cooperative members?
Participation of the interested parties:
This policy is the fruit of wide consultation between the various interested
parties. As required by the PEFC France frame of reference and in all
logic in this type of approach, all of the professional organisations
in the forestry-wood sector were consulted for the elaboration of this
policy, as well as 24 Non-Governmental Organisations acting in protection
of the environment.
Establishment of an inventory:
An inventory was carried out, concentrating on 42 numbered indicators
and giving a detailed photograph of the state of the forests of the 60,000
forest owners, members of the group’s forestry cooperatives, representing
1.3 million hectares.
Definition of the group policy:
On the basis of the results of this inventory and the environmental analysis
carried out for Iso 14001, 8 main objectives, sub-divided into 31 sub-objectives
were determined, which from now on will guide the daily actions of all
the forestry cooperative personnel.
What are FORÊTS & BOIS DE L'EST’S commitments through
the GCF Group for the Durable Management of the Forests?

On a daily basis, the example of forestry operations at FORÊTS & BOIS
DE L'EST :
Preparation of the site :
A prior inventory of the existing regulation at the sites, as well as
identification of the potential impact of the operations. All of this
data is formalised by opening up a site file, liaison between the COFOLOR
technician and the service providers,
The site procedure :
The sub-contractors involved have all been made
aware of the environmental aspects and have undertaken to comply with
the specifications. They have been informed of the particular requirements
for the worksite by means of the starter file that they co-sign with the
technician.
Worksite acceptance :
An evaluation is drawn up by the technician so as to verify the results
and detect eventual variations, which will give rise to corrective actions.
