What is a forestry cooperative?

Membership : A forestry cooperative is a company with a variable capital, whose partners are forest owners who apply for capital shares at the time of their joining, as well as undertaking a commitment corresponding to the type of activity that they would like to entrust to the cooperative (Collection – sale and/or service and/or supply with regard to FORÊTS & BOIS DE L'EST).

The commitment to FORÊTS & BOIS DE L'EST is for 3 years, at the end of which each partner may request reimbursement of his capital shares and the termination of his membership.

Advantages for members of the cooperative: In return for the commitments undertaken, the cooperative owes its partners complete clarity concerning the matters managed for them as well as equality between members of the cooperative. It can distribute rebates to them on excess results.

Democratic working : The general meeting of partners has a right to inspect the accounts and the actions of the cooperative and elects a board of directors which manages the company. Each partner has a vote at the general meeting.

Non exclusivity : the cooperative may, besides, carry out 20% of its activity with non-partner third parties.
